FYI, the tank in the photograph is a Panzerkampfwagen. IV Ausf. C., armed with a 75 mm gun (L/24) and with two 7.92 mm machine guns. I’m pretty sure, because the shape of the exhaust pipes. If I’m wrong, could only be an Ausf. D (10 mm with a thicker armor on the turret). The uniform of the tankers is typical of the troops “panzer” at the beginning of the war, black color, with beret, jacket, baggy pants…

In the turret, above the national flag (black and white cross), has been painted in red (probably) three digits “315″. That means 3rd Company, 1st Platoon, 5th Vehicle. The 3rd Company was part of the 2nd Battalion (medium cars) 4 th “Panzer” Regiment , the 13th “Panzer” Division.

The 13 th “Panzer” Division was formed in Vienna from the 13th Motorized Infantry Division and around the Regiment “Panzer” number 4 (which had once belonged to the 2nd Division “Panzer”). The badge was yellow: a circle divided into four equal parts by a cross. Newly established (October 1940), was sent to Romania, where it remained until May 1941 when Germany declared war on the Soviet Union. In Romania was under the command of Lt. Gen. Friedrich Wilhelm von und Rothkirch Panther, who would command the division until June 25, 1941.

Scuze dar acelea erau blindatele Armatei Romane!
Armata Romana folosea atunci un fel de basca.Soldatii germani aveau sapca.
Poza este facuta in 1941,cam atunci au intrat in dotarea armatei tancuri germane medii (Panzerkampfwagen III cu denumirea romaneasca T3)

@ Adrian Ciubotaru – nu stiu nici eu exact, dar in fotografiile din arhiva revistei “Life” (1940) pare ca inca s-ar lucra. Daca am gresit cu estimarea, pregatesc cenusa :D

Oricum a durat mult pana s-a finalizat aripa Stirbei-Voda, de-abia dupa razboi.

Raiden, stiu ca la aripa Stirbei-Voda s-a intrerupt lucrul dupa plecarea lui Carol al II-lea (septembrie 1940).

La 1 decembrie 1940, Misiunea Militara Germana a simtit nevoie sa-si marcheze prezenta in mod festiv pentru a da un semnal pozitiv de stabilitate (tensiunile crescusera intre Antonescu si Sima) si o nota de optimism bucurestenilor (dupa cutremurul cu o luna inainte)

Pe atunci, in Banu Manta nu era Primaria Sectorului 1, ci Primaria Sectorului IV Verde.
La Pta. Palatului Regal se lucra de zor la aripa Stirbei-Voda, iar pe Arcul de Triumf se gaseau medalioanele initiale (din marmura) cu efigiile Regelui Ferdinand si Reginei Maria.
